Bhubaneswar : Having commissioned a 525-bed Covid Hospital in its campus here, the SOA Deemed to be University on Tuesday aided the Odisha government in launching one more similar facility at Kendrapara.
The new hospital, which has been set up at a Government Polytechnic at Chhata near Kendrapara town, will have 100 beds besides 10 ICU beds.
The hospital has been funded by the state government with the doctors, nurses and para-medics of the Institute of Medical Sciences and SUM Hospital, SOA’s faculty of medicine here, manning the facility. IMS and SUM Hospital will also provide the required technical expertise.
The hospital will have the necessary life-saving device and other equipment including ventilators.
Kendrapara district collector Mr. Samarth Verma was present at the commissioning of the hospital.
A MoU in this connection was signed on Monday at Kendrapara between the district collector and Medical Superintendent of IMS and SUM Hospital Dr Pusparaj Samantasinhar. SOA’s Vice-chancellor Prof. Ashok Kumar Mahapatra, SOA’s Director Prof. Manas K. Mallick and Kendrapara deputy collector Mr. Jyoti Prakash Mohapatra were present on the occasion.
The IMS and SUM Hospital had earlier set up a Covid Hospital in Campus-2 of SOA here having 525 beds including 25 ICU beds. The public sector Mahanadi Coalfields Limited (MCL) will be funding the hospital billed to be the second largest in the country created to treat only COVID-19 patients.
