Odisha B.Ed Students Stranded In AP Rescued

It was brought to our attention through a video on social media and news channels that because of the lockdown due to the COVID-19 pandemic 42 Bachelor of Education students from Odisha were in a stranded state in Prakasham district of Andhra Pradesh on 23-03-2020.

The matter was also pursued and brought to the notice of Shri Arup Patnaik, Convenor Odisha-Mo Parivar by Honourable MLA Bhadrak, Shri Sanjib Mallick, Honourable MP Bhadrak, Smt Manjulata Mandal and Hounarable Minster Culture, Shri Jyoti Prakash Panigrahi and he further informed regarding this to Honourable Chief Minister’s Office. After knowing the matter, the Honourable Chief Minister expressed that the students must be brought back to their native places at any cost and the Chief Secretary of Odisha was reached and requested to intervene.

The Chief Secretary Odisha then reached to the Chief Secretary Andhra Pradesh and was requested to intervene in the matter and after his intervention the local administration in Prakasham district reached out to the students and conducted a health check-up and certified that the students were healthy and good to travel.

The Honourable MLA, Markapur then facilitated the travel arrangements of the students to Odisha through two APSRTC buses as the train and flight services have been stopped due to the lockdown amidst the COVID-19 pandemic.

The students have boarded the APSRTC buses on 24-03-2020 at around 10:40 PM and heading towards Odisha.

All the students have expressed their gratitude towards the Honourable Chief Minister, Shri Naveen Patnaik, Local Administration in Prakasham, The Chief Secretaries of Odisha and Andhra Pradesh and the Odisha- Mo Parivar Team for extending necessary support in the condition of distress.
