Bhubaneswar: Today, the Ministry of Health, Government of India in in a Tweet with a statistical bar-chart has informed about the States and Union Territories performing more than 140 COVID tests per day per million population.

As per the Centre’s provided information, Odisha ranks 2nd in India for undertaking maximum number of COVID tests per day per million population.

Standing at 1,265 COVID tests per day per million population, Odisha has left behind many large states in India and is much higher than the National Average.

Large States like Madhya Pradesh at 244 daily tests per million population, Rajasthan at 309, West Bengal at 365, Bihar at 408, Kerala at 534, Punjab at 546 and Maharashtra at 579, are far behind not only Odisha but also the national average in this regard.

With Odisha increasing its daily COVID testing to more than 50,000 tests per day, Odisha has become a role model for large states in COVID testing.

With Odisha performing so well in aggressive testing as compared to rest of India, it will lead to early identification and isolation of COVID19 positive cases. This, coupled with efficient clinical treatment, will keep the Fatality Rate down.

Odisha is a role model for the nation and globally in handling of the COVID battle and the recent information on COVID testing by Union Government, placing Odisha in 2nd position in India is just another initiative of the Odisha Government to win the war against COVID.
