IndianOil’s Product Application & Development Centre (PADC), Paradip to be inaugurated tomorrow

Bhubaneshwar: 24 June 2020: In order to facilitate and support the polymer industry
development in Odisha and eastern part of India, a Product Application & Development
Centre (PADC) has been setup by IndianOil at Paradip with a capex of Rs 43 crores adjacent
to its Refinery and Petrochemicals complex.

Newly built on 5 acres of land with a built up area of 3334 sq.metre, PADC at Paradip will
be inaugurated jointly by Hon’ble Chief Minister, Odisha, Sh. Naveen Patanaik and Sh.
Dharmendra Pradhan, Union Minister of Petroleum & Natural Gas and Steel tomorrow
through a virtual platform.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has given a clarion call for Mission Purvodaya, that is
Eastern India driving the national growth and propelling India in balanced manner. As part
of this journey, IndianOil has commissioned a 7 Lakh MT of Polypropylene plant at Paradip
refinery in February 2019.

The technical centre has become the sixth centre of its kind in the country and second such
technical centre of Eastern India. The centre is also recognised laboratory of Department of
Scientific & Industrial Research (DSIR) under the Ministry of Science & Technology, Govt of
India.

In line with Atmanirbhar Bharat scheme of Govt of India, PADC will be working on
development of newer grades from Paradip and curtail polymer imports through
substitution. Innovative application development is one of the prime focuses of the centre to
replace finished goods imports to the country in niche fabrics and technical textiles etc. The
centre will identify area of development of applications of polymeric material and products
for enabling India as self reliant promoting indigenous manufacturing.

The centre would also act as a supporting technical centre for polyester yarns and fabrics
for the upcoming textile downstream units in Bhadrak and Dhamra.
PADC would be working closely in application and developments of polymers in
collaboration with other reputed research institutes such as ICT, Bhubaneswar, CIPET and
NCL, Pune. The centre is equipped with latest sophisticated testing and processing
equipment to cater to the needs of customers and new investors.

PADC, Paradip will support new investors and entrepreneurs for preparing project reports,
had holding for setting up of industry and establishing market for the finished products for
the investor.
